School

So, this is the second time I will be starting back in school. Well, kinda the third if you count the brief time I was in TX but had to drop out since I moved. Either/or I’m back in.

I had to wait a year to get residency back in NC, then I was going to wait until this coming fall. Why, because I dunno just felt like I should. Well, my boss got wind that I wanted to start back in school and was like “hey, late registration is until January 6th.”

So… An application later and here I am. 28 years old and on my second semester of school.

Today was bookstore day. And, oh my, how things have changed. Last time I went, which was ten years ago (side note: 10 years?!?!?!?! WTH), your books were listed with the titles under the class information. Well, not anymore, you now just apparently find them by the class name, luckily there are people in the bookstore that understand the system, because I was lost. And now you don’t just want in and out of the bookstore anymore, nope, instead there is a huge line because the school waits to open the bookstore 2 days before classes start. So, 3 hours later I finally had my books. Fortunately everyone seemed to be in a pleasant mood and I joked around with soon to be fellow classmates. Score!

Checklist:

  • Application accepted.
  • Classes registered.
  • Classes scheduled.
  • Books bought.
  • Parking pass bought.

Pretty good start I think.

Thursday it begins. Let’s get the party started.

I used to completely kill myself to blog every single day and beat myself up when I didn’t follow through. But that’s not what blogging it about. I mean sure if you are wanting to keep up with daily events, but really unless that mark some kind of importance I don’t think you want to hear everyday that I woke up, went to work, came home, worked out and went to bed. If that’s the case then I could just copy and paste. Some days life is crazy emotional or eventful and others, well, it’s just life. I life the “just life” days. You need those days. At least I know I do.

Yesterday was eventful. For a few weeks now my friend and I have been going hiking on Saturdays. And I have to say that I am quite proud of us for keeping up with it, even as the weather gets colder. And we have made progress, which is always exciting. At first, we were just going to this little recreation center by me and we did cut our time from one hour to 45 minutes for three miles. I’d have to say that’s pretty good. Yesterday we tried out this new spot. Moore Springs Trail, it’s part of the new land that Hanging Rock State Park just purchased. And can I say that the hills, omg! But we did it, three miles in less than an hour!! The one good thing about hiking is that once you get started you have two options: 1. Turn back around, which depending on how far you have already went could be a bad idea. or 2. Keep moving forward. 🙂

Then to top it all off we have been following the 90 days Bikini Body Challenge and yesterday was the “death march”, which is 100 walking lunges. Really it doesn’t sound like a lot until you start doing them. Oh and, of course, that’s not all. She adds on one armed windmill and boat pose/elevated leg-oblique crunch (those are a killer).

But I have learned that the best way to push through it is to get mad. And the angrier you get the harder you push.

Really I think the hardest thing for me to work on is focusing on the positive and to stop complaining. It’s tough but I need to and I will.

I’m not going to start a whole “New Year, New Me” because it isn’t a “new” me more of a “better, work in-progress” me. I don’t want a “new” me I like me. I just want to improve me.

Every year we make crazy “resolutions” and, honesty, how many do we actually keep? This year instead of setting goals, that you either meet or fail. I’m going to set hopes, focusing mostly on becoming better mentally and physically.

So here we go…

2016:

  • Mentally –
  1. Heal myself.
  2. Allow myself to be happy, learn to be happy.
  3. Start meditating.
  4. Write in a journal. (Mini I’m going great journal)
  5. Keep a dream journal.
  6. Forgive. (Make a list of people that have hurt me and write a letter of forgiveness.)
  • Physically –
  1. Begin and create meal prepping habits.
  2. Be more active; workout at least 3 times a week and stick to it!
  • Miscellaneous –
  1. Read 50 books in one year.
  2. Become more organized and clean.
  3. Complete 25 DIY projects in one year.
  4. Invest in clothes.
  5. Save money.
  6. Pay off at least 3 credit cards.
  7. Create a Grateful jar.

Time to focus and stop holding myself back.

2016, we got this!

Starting Anew.

I meant to start this back on the 1st of July, but well as we all know I’m not very good with keeping up with things. Honestly I get busy or don’t feel like opening up my laptop. So, let’s see how well this works this go around.

I haven’t done too bad the last couple of days. And for the past month I have lost a couple pounds which is great, but I really need to step it up.

I’m currently only using Jawbones Up24. I was using My Fitness Pal but it all just became too much to keep up with. Less is more.

Not too bad, but I really need to watch what I eat on the days that I don’t work out. Also, I need to become more consistent with working out. I will be creating a schedule. So far my goal is at least 3 days a week, but I need to make sure I’m not putting too much time in between those days.

Off the wagon.

So, like normal I have completely fell off.

I stopped blogging, tracking, working out… Everything. I have blame it on a million reasons: New job, cold weather, no space… But in all honesty it’s absolute no motivation.

I want to loose weight, I do. I just have a tendency to start off 100% commitment and it is just too much. Instead of small changes and making them into habits, I try to change everything and fail miserably.

It’s like most things I force everything upon myself and make unrealistic goals. And to top it all off I expect results tomorrow…

So, for now I’m just making sure I drink my water a day, which most days I meet. And choosing better food choices. One day…

Today was great! Took the stairs all day, no elevators for this girl!! Making better choices and keeping it going!

I think I’m going to work out every other day though, every day is a lot when starting a new job.

Today was fantastic!! I love my new job and I’m even more motivated to continue my road to healthy!

Everyday I am so tempted to get on the scale and see where I’m at, but I’m not going to until February 1st. I always get so discouraged when I don’t notice anything on the scale so to keep away from that happening once a month weight in at most!

Today (or yesterday I should say, I’m a day behind) was INSANE!! It was my first day at my new job; and while I didn’t do too bad with my calories, my water intake and workouts was shot.

I’m going to do yesterday’s workout today then catch up on Thursday which would of been my rest day! That way I won’t stay behind for long!!

Week 1 Day 3

Sorry this post is slightly late. I had yesterday all planned out, but as usual things kept changing. Family was over until 22:00 last night and after digging through a storage building half the day for some of my stuff I had an insane headache.

I overate at dinner way too much, me + Chinese buffet = no good! I must stay far away!

And to top it all off, I normally work out around 20:00, but because of family and my headache I ended up passing out. So, today I will be doubling up on workouts so I will be caught up for tomorrow.

I really think that I need to start working out first thing in the morning, because as the day goes on my motivation gets less and less. Starting tomorrow I will be getting up at least 30 minutes early so that I can complete my workouts before I go into work!
